portobello road navy strength gin

The gin was “designed with bartenders and mixability in mind”

Portobello Road Gin has added a new 57.1% ‘navy strength’ gin seasoned with English sea salt.

The gin, which rolls out into the on and off-trade this month, had notes of “juniper and citrus” while “the salinity from the added English sea salt runs right through as the flavour evolves” with a “long, sustained, peppery finish”, said the brand. It is being distributed by Mangrove (rsp: £26/70cl).

A portion of the proceeds from every bottle sold will go to ocean welfare charities. A donation will also be made when certain ‘signature cocktails’ made with the gin are purchased in selected bars.

It was “designed with bartenders and mixability in mind”, said Portobello Road co-founder and director Jake F Burger. “It is a wonderful base for classic cocktails and plays well with the current trend towards salinity in mixed drinks.”
