Two core 70cl SKUs – one bourbon style and one rye whiskey style – will roll out

Spirits of Virtue has launched a new ‘bourbonesque’ 0% abv drink designed to replicate the taste of American whiskey.

Called Sobour, the drink is produced using bourbon cask chips, with the brand recommending it be consumed neat, on-the-rocks or as a cocktail ingredient.

Two core 70cl SKUs – one bourbon style and one rye whiskey style – will roll out, as well as a duo of pre-mixed Bourbon & Premium Cola and Whiskey & Ginger Ale 250ml RTD cans.

The bourbon-style drink offered flavours of “fragrant Madagascan vanilla” with “woody American oak, toasted nuts and dry spice” and “light smokey notes with hints of caramel cream”.

The rye-style drink, meanwhile, offered “warming balck pepper and toasted spices” with “hints of French oak”, “mellow notes of apricot and brown toffee” as well as “notes of tobacco spice and new leather”.

The drink was “visually disruptive with high impact” and offered a “modern take on the bourbon for ‘generation AF’”, said Spirits of Virtue.

Sobour will roll out from 22 November into Amazon and the brand’s web shop.

It comes as the past year has seen a slew of launches hit the alcohol-free spirits category. However the vast majority have been white spirits designed to replicate the likes of gin and vodka or aperitifs.
