Plant-based brand Squeaky Bean has launched a duo of chicken-style pieces, designed for cooking.

Two flavours – Seasoned and Tandoori – have rolled into Sainsbury’s (rsp: £3.25/175g).

The pieces, which are made with wheat and pea protein, are low in saturated fat, making them “a great option for health-conscious consumers”, said the brand.

Seasoned is flavoured with salt and pepper. Tandoori, meanwhile, comprises “a tasty blend of aromatic spices”.

They had been “specifically created to be cooked and enjoyed in consumers’ favourite dinner recipes” and could be pan-fried in under five minutes, said Squeaky Bean.

It comes after the brand launched a new plant-based cooking chorizo into Waitrose stores last week (28 December).

According to Squeaky Bean brand manager Rebecca Youseman, the new Heat & Eat range would “help bring more plant-based excitement to the kitchen, while holding that fantastic texture our products are known for”.

“We believe plant-based food should be an exciting choice rather than a chore, and we are certain these new products offer just that – a craveable, convenient, ready-to-cook choice that will convert even the biggest of meat-eaters.”

Squeaky Bean expanded its ready-to-eat range in 2022 with a duo of beef-style products, a duo of filled chicken-style flatbreads and a kebab.
