Sustainable household brand and retailer Everdrop is looking to enter the UK later this year, co-founder David Löwe has told The Grocer.

Löwe revealed the UK was a target for the Munich-based company, which sells a range of refillable and plastic-free household products online across four European markets.

Although Brexit had complicated the process, Everdrop should land in the UK by “the end of the year”, Löwe told The Grocer at Shoptalk Europe today (7 June).

Speaking at the conference at Excel London, Löwe outlined plans to make a dent in the European household market. “The household cleaning industry is worth over $40bn in Europe and if you translate that into single-use plastic, it’s mandatory that we change. And I hope we take market share,” he said.

Everdrop operates as an online retailer in Germany, Switzerland, Italy and France, where it sells a range of products across bodycare, laundry and household cleaning. Most products come in a tablet form that can be dissolved in water to create the final product, stored in a refillable container.

The range was developed after Löwe questioned why the industry was “wasting so much time transporting water”, he said.

Last year, Everdrop raised €18m in Series A funding in a round led by Felix Capital. At the time, it said it would use the funds to create a wider range of sustainable household products and market them across Europe, and eventually the US.
