Veganuary has become the key time for brands to bring out their plant-based NPD. So which new products are set to hit the shelves for Veganuary 2023?

The latest launch from This combines its plant-based fat recipe – ‘Fat 2.0’, made from olive oil – with pea and soya protein to create a healthier twist on bacon. It has just 17 kcal per rasher while also being high in protein, low in fat – 88% less than the average meat equivalent, according to This – and a good source of fibre. Plus, it contains vitamin B12 and iron to boot. Looks like it could be a veritable challenger to French vegan bacon brand La Vie, which made its UK supermarket debut in September

Plant-based chicken alternative brand Tindle will make its UK supermarket debut in Morrisons on Boxing Day with a trio of products. Its Wings (160g), Nuggets (180g) and Burgers (240g) lines will retail at £3 each and be available in Morrisons for an initial limited run until 24 January.

Chika’s is releasing a trio of new vegan, non-HFSS Rice Crisps in BBQ, Salt & Vinegar and Sweet Chilli variants. Made with white rice and natural flavourings, they are popped (not fried) to create “crunchy, moreish crisps that are full of flavour” and under 100 calories.

Better Nature’s new marinated tempeh pieces can be heated in five minutes to form the base of an array of everyday meals. Available in three flavours – Mediterranean, Curry and BBQ – the pieces are packed with protein and fibre, and count as one of the 5 a day.

Comprising broad beans and pea protein, this vegan cooking sausage from Squeaky Bean is seasoned with chilli, smoked paprika and garlic before going through the same slow dry curing process as meat chorizo to help it “match on flavour and texture”.

Dairy-free chocolate specialist Nomo is debuting a Caramelised Biscuit Bar, described as “a fusion of creamy choc, biscuity crumbs and a hint of warming spice”. It builds on the brand’s market-leading vegan chocolate range.  ⁠

Moving Mountains is launching frozen No Chicken Nuggets and No Chicken Burgers in time for Veganuary. The chicken shop-style nuggets and burgers, which come in packs of 10 and two respectively, are made from a combination of pea and soya protein.

Gut health specialist Bio&Me is launching two new 100% gluten-free prebiotic granolas: Cashew & Almond and Berry Burst. High in fibre, they contain no added sugar and are 100% plant-based, with ingredients that “give your biome the diversity it loves to help it thrive”. 

Cashew & Almond contains 12 vegetables, wholegrains, fruits, legumes, nuts and seeds, while Berry Burst features freeze-dried strawberries, blackcurrants and cherries.
