Yorica ice cream

The ice cream is made in an allergen-free factory in Park Royal

Free-from ice cream parlour Yorica has made its grocery debut with what it claims is the world’s first ice cream range lacking all major allergens.

Two variants, Double Chocolate Cookie and Salted Caramel (rsp: £5.50/500ml), launched today (2 October) exclusively from Ocado.

Approved by The Vegan Society, the ice cream is made in an allergen-free factory in Park Royal, London, using ingredients, including coconut and rice, from suppliers “that can commit to the same standards” of food safety.

Accredited by the Safe And Local Supplier Approval scheme, the new desserts contain no egg, nuts, milk, soya or any other of the 14 main allergenic ingredients listed by the Food Standards Agency.

Yorica group managing director Simon Foster said the London brand – which opened its parlour on Wardour Street, Soho, in early 2016 – was “passionate about helping everyone enjoy ice cream, without worrying about allergies, intolerances or dietary requirements and without any compromise in taste and texture”.
