Suffolk will get an abattoir capable of killing 3,000 pigs a week after the government approved plans on appeal.
C&K Meats and Lambert abattoir have been fighting for planning permission to relocate to Eye for three years, and have now had their efforts vindicated.
The site will have capacity for 3,000 pigs, 500 sheep and 200 cattle a week, with meat going to independent retailers and farm shops in the region, as well as into foodservice.
"We can now look forward to the new abattoir playing a vital role in safeguarding the viability of the area's livestock farmers," said Nick Saltmarsh at East Anglia Food Link.
