Dhillon will start on 29 December

AF Blakemore has hired Taranjit Singh Dhillon as its new director of independent retail.

He will start on 29 December, bringing more than 20 years of experience in the retail and convenience sector, including regional manager at Lidl and national operations manager for One Stop.

His most recent role was head of retail at Co-op Wholesale, which he held for just over a year from September 2024.

In a post on LinkedIn, AF Blakemore said: “His track record speaks for itself from driving the development of successful franchise models to leading initiatives that strengthened independent retail businesses through a focus on sales growth, customer retention, and proposition loyalty.”

In Dhillon’s new role, he will lead its independent recruitment team and play “a key part in driving the continued growth of our profitable and sustainable family business”.

The business added: “His collaborative style, strong leadership, and deep understanding of independent retail will be invaluable as we develop our Blakemore Trade Partners Plus proposition and pursue new business opportunities.”
