Aldi has unveiled an own-label ice cream inspired by the viral Dubai-style chocolate trend.
Billed as “the first of its kind to be available in any UK supermarket”, the NPD will hit Aldi freezers on 14 April (rsp: £3.99/500ml).
The ice cream combines “decadent” chocolate with “sweet, nutty” pistachio and wafer.
It comes after Lidl, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Ocado have launched iterations of the viral chocolate bars into stores in recent weeks.
Lidl sold out a limited run of 6,000 Dubai-style JD Gross bars through its TikTok Shop earlier this month.
Over the weekend, the 122g bars rolled into Lidl stores nationwide, priced at £3.99 for shoppers with the Lidl Plus app and £4.99 without. Sales of the bars have been limited to two per customer.
Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Ocado have this month listed Lindt’s Dubai-Style Chocolate bars, which first landed in the UK in December.
Like Lidl, Waitrose has limited shoppers purchasing Lindt’s Dubai Style Chocolate to a maximum of two bars per transaction to manage high levels of demand.
Lindt has this month expanded the range with a Dubai Style Chocolate Praline Box and a smaller 40g sized Dubai Style Chocolate bar, sold exclusively at its new London Piccadilly store.
The response to the Dubai Style range so far had been “phenomenal”, Lindt UK & Ireland CEO Joel Burrows told The Grocer.
