Aldi is staging a competition to win one of 62 £50 vouchers, with one to be handed out for each day of July and August.
The discounter is billing its latest voucher competition as its way of helping families across the country with the added costs of looking after children during the school holidays.
However, anyone can enter, with no requirement that they be parents or carers – or even Aldi customers – simply by sending their name and email address to summersupportscheme@aldi.co.uk. The only stipulation is that they must be residents of Britain. The competition is also open to children, though someone over 18 must submit their entry on their behalf.
The competition is open from 1 July until 31 August. Aldi will randomly select one winner per day and contact them using the email address provided. Only one entry per person is permitted.
“The summer break can put extra pressure on finances, especially when it comes to keeping children fed, entertained and active during the holidays,” said Aldi UK chief commercial officer Julie Ashfield.
“We’re committed to helping families make their money go further all year round, and this scheme is another way we’re supporting parents during one of the most expensive times of the year.”
Aldi sales were up by just 0.4% year on year in the 12 weeks to 14 June, according to new data from Worldpanel on Tuesday, the weakest performance of any major supermarket except Asda. It left Aldi with a market share of 10.7%, down from 10.9% a year ago.
