Aldi has launched ‘gut-friendly and brain-supporting’ granolas which it claims rival M&S for 35% less.
The discounter has leapt on a #functionalfood trend on TikTok with the launch of two health-focused granolas – Raspberry & Almond Brain Health and Berry & Apple Gut Health – each costing £2.29 for 400g.
The granolas are “packed with fibre-rich wholegrains including barley, oats and spelt, alongside iron, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals”, according to Aldi. “With no added sugar or artificial flavourings, the crunchy cereals are formulated to support digestive wellness and cognitive wellbeing throughout the day,” said a spokesperson.
M&S’s Brain Food Granola Super Seeded and Good Gut Mango & Apple Granola each cost £3.50 for £400g.
Aldi said demand for foods with added health benefits was rising particular sharply among Gen Z and millennial consumers.
