
Aldi has laid claim to making £122m worth of price cuts covering almost 500 individual lines so far in 2026.
The price cuts span fresh and frozen food, cupboard staples, household essentials and personal care products.
Recently reduced items include creme fraiche, down from 85p to 75p, protein porridge pots reduced from 69p to 59p, and chickpeas dropped from 49p to 45p.
Aldi shoppers will also find savings on British pork shoulder steak, reduced from £4.39 to £4.29, premium steam bag vegetables dropped from £1.99 to £1.89, and health smoothies cut from £1.99 to £1.49.
“We know many households are continuing to feel the pressure of rising costs, which is why we’ve already invested £122m in lowering prices this year and will continue to do everything we can to keep prices down for our customers,” said Aldi UK chief commercial officer Julie Ashfield.
“With nearly 500 products reduced so far in 2026, we’re helping shoppers make their money go further, without compromising on quality.”
Aldi also announced £16m in price cuts at Easter, including reduced champagne, prosecco and branded and own-label confectionery.
Latest Worldpanel by Numerator data showed Aldi grew sales by 2.3% year on year in the 12 weeks to 22 March 2026, more slowly than the total market’s 3.9% growth in the same period. Aldi’s market share slipped from 10.8% to 10.6% year on year.
At the same time, Lidl grew sales by 9.6% year on year, and its market share rose from 7.8% to 8.3%, bringing it level with Morrisons as the UK’s joint-fifth-largest supermarket.
