Aldi has cut prices of over 200 products in a new £60m round of reductions.

Savings include a 50p drop in the price of British beef steaks such as its 30 Day Matured British Rump Steak, now £4.69.

Aldi’s Gianni Ice Cream Lollies and Watermelon Fruit Lollies have both dropped from £1.99 to £1.79, and its Ice Cream Cookies from £2.49 to £1.95.

In beers, wines and spirits, Aldi’s New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Aperini Spritz four-pack have both been dropped by 50p, to £6.99 and £5.49 respectively.

Aldi’s Lacura SPF50+ Sensitive Lotion (200ml) has been cut by 20p to £3.29.

The cuts this week are part of a £200m investment in price drops by Aldi this year.

“Now more than ever, we know that customers are looking to manage their budgets for the weekly shop, which is why we’re constantly reviewing prices across our range,” said Aldi chief commercial officer Julie Ashfield.

“These latest price reductions cover hundreds of everyday products and offer great value without compromising on quality.”

Latest Worldpanel by Numerator data yesterday showed Aldi’s sales rose by just 0.6% year on year in the 12 weeks to 17 May, suggesting they were down on a like-for-like basis despite its investment in price cuts this year.

Aldi also today said it would give away nearly £2,000 in vouchers, a £50 HD LED projector and £60 inflatable screen in its latest email competition, themed around the World Cup. The exact value of vouchers on offer is £1,966, in commemoration of the year England won the tournament.

Winners will be those who show Aldi they have the ‘most impressive outdoor space’, by emailing photos or video of their garden, patio, or balcony to WorldCupGarden@aldi.co.uk. The promotion runs until 4 June and full terms and conditions can be found at aldi.co.uk/corporate/terms-and-conditions/competitions.
