Halley had been at Aldi for two-and-a-half years

Aldi marketing director Kyrsten Halley has left the business after two and a half years.

Halley has left to set up her own marketing consultancy, with Kristin Sonfield succeeding her to lead Aldi’s marketing team alongside Laura Conlon, MarketingWeek reported.

Sonfield joined Aldi as marketing director in January. She was previously marketing director at Comparethemarket.com, where she spent 17 years, including being part of the team that transformed the brand through the Meerkat campaign.

Conlon has been at Aldi for more than 10 years, working her way up from area manager to marketing director. She and Sonfield will report to Aldi group director for customer interaction Richard Thornton, according to Aldi.

Halley has led Aldi’s brand campaigns, including its sponsorship of Team GB and ParalympicsGB. Before joining Aldi in September 2023, she was marketing director at The Flavourists, part of the Samworth Brothers Group, where she also advised on overall group brand strategy. She is also a former head of brand at Ryvita.

Commenting on LinkedIn, Halley said: “Walking away from your dream job is not a decision you take lightly. But after a brilliant three years with Aldi that is exactly what I am choosing to do.

“I’ll be sharing more soon about the consultancy that’s loading in the background.

“For now, a huge thank you to the extraordinary Aldi team, and to the partners and friends who’ve been part of the ride.”
