Aldi has kicked off a Christmas recruitment drive, with 4,500 positions to fill.

The discounter is hiring for a range of store positions to replenish stock and help customers during the festive season and into 2026.

Store assistant, cleaner and managerial positions are available.

Aldi currently has more than 1,060 stores and recently said it would open a new one a week until the end of the year. It aims to eventually have 1,500.

“At Aldi, our goal is to make high-quality, affordable food accessible to everyone, and at Christmas demand for that always increases,” said Aldi UK recruitment director Kelly Stokes.

“That’s why we’re bringing more colleagues into our stores, ensuring we continue to deliver the very best experience for our shoppers.”

Aldi is the highest-paying supermarket across the UK, with an entry-level national store worker rate of £13.02 an hour. Inside the M25 it is the joint highest-paying with Lidl, with both discounters offering £14.35 an hour.

Aldi is also one of the few remaining retailers to offer paid breaks, which it says are worth about £1,425 a year to the average store worker.

Stokes added: “Our people are at the heart of our success, and once again we’ll be closing all our stores on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. It’s important to us that our colleagues have the chance to enjoy a well-deserved break and spend valuable time with their loved ones.”
