Aldi is redesigning the packaging of a squash drink believed to be the subject of a trademark infringement claim launched by Robinsons last year.
Aldi’s Sun Quench Squirty Squash has been delisted on Aldi’s website since the start of year. The new design will go on sale once remaining existing stock has depleted in stores, according to the supermarket.
A spokesperson said it was a routine packaging update, unrelated to any legal challenge.

Robinsons owner Carlsberg Britvic was approached for comment.
Robinsons filed a claim against Aldi in the High Court last March, accusing the discounter of trademark infringement and passing off. Full details of the claim have not been made public.
It is the latest in a long list of trademark lawsuits against the discounter, including a successful one by Thatchers over similarities between its Cloudy Lemon Cider and Aldi’s Taurus Cloudy Lemon Cider. During that two-year battle, Aldi redesigned its cider can, putting it down to a standard periodical refresh, before the Court of Appeal ultimately ruled in Thatchers’ favour last year.
In 2022, an M&S lawsuit against Aldi over its caterpillar cake ended in a confidential agreement between the two retailers. Aldi continued selling its version, called Cuthbert.
A claim by M&S over gin-based liqueurs proved less favourable for Aldi when the Court of Appeal ruled it had infringed registered designs in 2024.
