Aldi has published a list of ‘priority locations’ for new stores across the UK.
The discounter has previously announced it is investing £370m in opening about 40 new UK stores this year as it works towards eventually having 1,500, up from about 1,080 currently.
The publication of the list, which runs to 160 locations across the UK, comes after Aldi called on the public to nominate sites in May.
“We know how important it is for people to have access to affordable, high-quality food close to where they live, which is why we’re focused on identifying the communities that would benefit most from a new Aldi store,” said Jonathan Neale, Aldi UK MD of national real estate.
“Opening new stores in these areas means we can bring great value to more customers, while also creating jobs and offering industry-leading pay.”
Aldi pays the UK’s highest entry-level store worker hourly rate, at £13.50 nationally and £14.88 within the M25.
