The beer is made from Maldon salt panned in Essex

Anspach & Hobday has teamed up with Maldon Salt for a new sour ale.

Called The Pineapple Gose, the brew has launched via DTC and in specialist retail (rsp: from £3.35/440ml).

Gose is a sour, ale-fermented beer style from Goslar in Germany. Typically, the beers are made from a mix of wheat and barley, and other additions such as salt and coriander.

Anspach & Hobday’s take on the style was made using Maldon Salt from Essex and “infused with juicy pineapple”, the south London brewer said.

It was “a fruity, salty sour beer which cherishes both the fantastic heritage of brewing and salt panning”, Anspach & Hobday co-founder John Hobday said.

“This partnership brings together two greats of British craftsmanship – our time-honoured salt-making tradition and Anspach & Hobday’s fresh approach to brewing,” said Simon James, product portfolio manager at Maldon Salt. “The result is a vibrant, flavourful beer that celebrates taste, creativity and the joy of sharing good moments.”

The two brands previously collaborated to release the Sea Salt & Lime Gose in July 2022.

Last December, Anspach & Hobday introduced a waiting list for its London Black beer, after struggling experiencing surging demand for the stout.
