Argos has launched its 2025 Christmas campaign with the return of mascots Connie and Trevor, joined by actor and comedian Simon Bird, in a bid to remind shoppers the retailer offers more than toys.
The film, directed by David Kerr, opens with Bird’s character dashing to finish his Christmas shopping. When he dismisses Argos as “only good for toys” during a phonecall, Connie and Trevor appear in his rearview mirror to correct him. The duo whisk Bird through a warehouse filled with premium products – from high-end tech to homeware – showcasing Argos’s wider range of festive gifts.
“We knew we needed a bold and playful campaign this Christmas,” said Laura Boothby, head of campaigns at Argos. “And so we’ve unleashed Connie and Trevor to mischievously show the huge range of desirable gifts and top brands we have for the whole family. Elevated by the comedic charms of Simon Bird, it’s a fun Christmas campaign like no other.”

Director David Kerr said: “What could be more Christmassy than a tiny doll and plastic dinosaur delivering a surprise to unsuspecting shopper Simon Bird? Such a funny idea – but getting the most from the comedy meant being true to the drama of the situation. We needed a hint of tension to reinforce the humour and Simon’s reactions hit exactly that sweet spot.”
The campaign, developed by The&Partnership, adds to Sainsbury’s broader push to grow Argos as a destination for general merchandise within the group. While supermarkets are leaning on humour, price-led or emotional storytelling this year, Argos is taking a lighter approach, using familiar characters to highlight range, value and convenience.
The spot launched on 1 November across TV, social and digital channels, as retailers compete for attention in an increasingly financially cautious Christmas trading period.
