Ready-to-drink vodka soda brand Arrowtown has landed a national retail debut with Sainsbury’s.
Cans in Mango & Pineapple and Black Cherry & Apple will land in 285 stores nationwide on 19 July (rsp: £2.95/330ml).
Arrowtown’s 4.5% abv tins are made from triple-distilled vodka, sparkling soda, and 100% natural ingredients, with no artificial ingredients. Each can also contains just 109 calories.
They sat at the crossroads of “the booming growth of the RTD market and the ever-growing shift toward health-conscious drinking”, Arrowtown said.
“Securing a nationwide listing with Sainsbury’s is a massive milestone for us,” said Arrowtown co-founder James Smith. “We started Arrowtown to prove that you don’t need to compromise on flavour to make a lighter, cleaner drink. Partnering with one of the UK’s major supermarkets allows us to take that mission nationwide, making it easier than ever for consumers to find a premium, low-sugar alternative on the shelves.”
Arrowtown was founded by Smith alongside his brother Rob in 2021, after the pair were inspired by lighter vodka-and-soda pairings they discovered while traveling New Zealand’s South Island.
The brand takes its name from the town of Arrrowtown, an historic gold-mining village situated between Wanaka and Queenstown.
“The world of alcohol consumption is changing,” said Smith. “Consumers want transparency, sustainable authenticity, and great taste without the artificial ingredients. We wanted to make a drink that keeps the good times flowing but aligns with a modern, balanced lifestyle.”
Arrowtown’s vodka sodas are also sold via DTC and in specialist independent retailers, as well as in Midcounties Co-op stores and via major wholesalers including LWC and Matthew Clark.
It comes after Arrowtown closed a £400k investment round led by venture capital fund Sorven Capital last summer.
