Asda would look to ‘expand fuel rewards to more stores and extend the bonus beyond August’

Asda is offering Rewards members discounts on fuel, in the latest enhancement of the supermarket’s loyalty scheme.

From 13 July, shoppers spending £40 or more in a single transaction will receive a fuel coupon worth the equivalent of 5p per litre, which can be redeemed at 321 participating Asda fuel stations.

The discount meant that customers filling a 60-litre family car would save up to £3 on average Asda said. The coupon would automatically appear in the Asda Rewards app once shoppers have completed the ‘Grocery & Fuel Mission’ within the platform.

Shoppers will then need to scan the barcode at the pump or kiosk to redeem their discount.

The offer is currently running until 7 August, but Asda said it would look to “expand fuel rewards to more stores and extend the bonus beyond August”.

It’s the latest in a new “summer programme” of loyalty enhancements being rolled out by Asda as it looks to make its much-maligned Rewards loyalty programme more competitive, as part of chief customer and digital officer Rachel Eyre’s ‘Take A Fresh Look’ customer experience programme.

“We’re making Asda Rewards even more rewarding,” Eyre said on the new fuel promotion. “Asda is more than just a supermarket and we’re always looking for new ways to help families save on top of our low prices.”

“Through our new Grocery & Fuel Bonus, customers can now unlock savings on fuel alongside their weekly shop, another step in our plans to keep growing Asda Rewards and give our customers even more value every time they shop with us.”

Last month Asda began offering free gig tickets through the platform. The supermarket has also launched a World Cup pot, which allows shoppers to complete in-app missions to win additional rewards points.

In January, Asda also vowed to undercut the loyalty prices of rivals Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Morrisons by up to 50% as part of a programme of price cuts throughout 2026.
