Australia’s leading Asian frozen dumpling brand Mr Chen’s is set to make its UK debut, launching a range of dumplings, steamed buns and wontons in Tesco.
Promising to deliver “authentic recipes and distinctive flavours”, the range comprises Pork & Chive Dumplings, Prawn Hargow, Honey Soy Chicken Dumplings, BBQ Pork Buns, Shanghai Soup Dumplings and Prawn Chive Wontons (rsps: from £4.25).
Pork & Chive Dumplings combines “succulent, juicy pork paired with aromatic chives in a delicately wrapped dumpling”.
Prawn Hargow are “delicate crystal wrappers filled with a moreish prawn, bamboo and sesame filling”.
Honey Soy Chicken Dumplings offer “tender chicken infused with sweet honey and savoury soy”.
Rounding out the range, BBQ Pork Buns are “light, fluffy steamed buns filled with Mr Chen’s signature sweet & savoury BBQ pork”.
The launch would shake up the UK’s £8.8bn frozen foods market, said Mr Chen’s, citing NIQ data.
“Following our success as Australia’s leading dumpling brand, we’re excited to bring our authentic recipes to the UK,” said Nancy Chen, co-CEO of Mr Chen’s. “As shoppers continue to explore diverse flavours that offer convenience, and with Asian cuisine growing in popularity, the timing feels right to introduce our range of Asian-inspired, restaurant-quality recipes to the Tesco freezer aisle, giving shoppers an easy way to enjoy authentic flavours at home.”
To support the launch, Mr Chen’s will roll out an integrated PR, social media and shopper marketing campaign ahead of National Dumpling Day on 26 September.
