Boots has offered on-demand delivery since 2021

Boots has extended on-demand delivery hours until midnight from 25 stores to serve football fans staying up late for World Cup matches.

The health & beauty retailer said demand had soared around match times for products such as hayfever tablets and ibuprofen, up by 80% and 50% respectively. Suncare SPF orders have rocketed by almost 200%, with many shoppers choosing to watch games outside on warm summer evenings, while some are ordering delivery to the pub, according to Boots.

The 25 stores to extend order hours until midnight during the World Cup are providing the service via Deliveroo.

“There’s no ‘nipping to the shops’ in the 75th minute of the England game, but we get that some things can’t wait and convenience matters – from a nappy blow-out emergency or a last-minute beauty fix ahead of celebrations,” said Boots chief digital and data officer Paula Bobbett. “Now Boots can come to you, wherever you are, with more evening and late-night delivery options for customers across the country.”

Deliveroo consumer VP Suzy McClintock said: “Football tournaments have a unique way of keeping the nation glued to their screens and nobody wants to risk missing a goal because they had to nip out for essentials.

“By extending our late-night delivery service with Boots to 25 new locations, we’re making it easier than ever for fans to get what they need, when they need it. Whether you’re celebrating a win at home or need a quick halftime fix delivered straight to the pub, we’ve got your match-day emergencies covered.”

Boots’ on-demand service first launched 2021 and is available from 500 stores through Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat. Customers can order from over 10,000 products to arrive in 30 minutes. Orders are usually taken until stores close, varying between 6pm and 7pm, or as early as 4pm on Sundays.
