The NPD is stocked by the traditional big four and Co-op

Butterkist has added a limited-edition popcorn inspired by the upcoming Wicked movie.

Fizzafying Lemonade (rsp: £1.35/75g) is Butterkist’s first non-HFSS popcorn. The “sweet, citrusy” NPD has rolled into the traditional big four and Co-op, and will be available until the end of 2025.

The partnership with Universal Pictures’ Wicked: For Good, out on 21 November, is designed to capture shopper attention, drive incremental sales, and maximise Butterkist’s association with movies.

From the end of October, all Butterkist core flavours will feature Wicked: For Good themed flash designs across sharing, microwave and PMP packs, including Sweet, Salted, Toffee and Sweet & Salty.

The on-pack promotion offers consumers the chance to win a family trip to see the Northern Lights, as well as hundreds of themed prizes, including branded popcorn buckets and water bottles.

This is Butterkist’s second year partnering with Universal Pictures. Last October, it rolled out an on-pack promotion ahead of the release of the first Wicked movie, offering shoppers the chance to win a trip to London, among other prizes.

“We are delighted to be once again bringing together the UK’s favourite and most recognisable popcorn brand with the year’s most emotional, electrifying cinematic event,” said Butterkist brand manager Rachael Rayner.

“This partnership will help drive consumer excitement while generating demand, unlocking opportunities for retailers’ sales by giving shoppers more reasons to go grab the Butterkist.”
