Castell Howell Foods Merthyr Tydfil depot

Castell Howell Foods has opened a new 14,000 sq ft depot in Merthyr Tydfil.

The Welsh foodservice wholesaler has been developing the site for 12 months. It becomes Castell Howell’s seventh depot.

The depot has capacity for 3,000 pallets, new refrigeration systems and racking, as well as 14 offices and a service yard.

“Our business plan has always encouraged steady, strategic growth and this latest development highlights our continuous investment in the areas that we service, by providing local employment and the ability to support our customers to even higher levels than ever before,” said Castell Howell Foods managing director Matt Lewis.

“The Merthyr depot is very important strategically as it offers us a solid base between our headquarters in Cross Hands and depot in Avonmouth. It will bolster our warehouse and delivery capabilities which customers will benefit from greatly.”

According to its most recent accounts published at Companies House, Castell Howell posted a turnover of £230.8m for the year to 31 October 2024. This was up 14.7% on the previous year.
