Nick Reade 2

Nick Reade will join from Mars, where he is UK&I GM

Compleat Food Group has appointed Nick Reade as its first UK managing director, in a newly created role reporting directly to CEO Nick Field.

Appointed to shape the acquisitive group’s UK commercial strategy, Reade arrives at a “significant time” for the group, which is expected to surpass £1.4bn in sales in FY26.

Reade will start at Compleat on 2 February after an 11-year stint at Mars, where most recently he was UK&I general manager. He has been replaced at Mars by company insider Tim Mooney.

His appointment will round off a new, enhanced leadership structure at Compleat, which has grown rapidly through acquisition since its formation in 2021.

“We’re delighted to welcome Nick to the group,” said Field.

“He brings deep experience in UK fmcg, a track record of driving commercial performance, and a leadership style focused on clarity, accountability and empowering teams to do their best work.

“The creation of this role and Nick’s appointment completes a new enhanced leadership structure for the group, which will support in driving the next phase of our journey, building on our commitment to deliver great-tasting products, sustained category growth and delighting our customers and consumers alike.”

Compleat’s revenues have jumped from £800m in 2024 to an estimated £1.4bn-plus in 2026, with much of the growth through acquisitions.

This financial year alone – ending in March – Compleat has acquired The Real Yorkshire Pudding Co, Freshpak, the assets of plant-based cheesemaker Julienne Bruno and the Greencore soup and sauces factory.

“The growth of The Compleat Food Group since its inception in 2021 has been fantastic to observe and the opportunity to be part of its continued success was hugely appealing,” said Reade.

“With its exciting brands and category-leading capabilities, alongside its Food to Feel Good ethos, this is a business that really embraces a modern entrepreneurial spirit with genuine heart and purpose.

“I’m looking forward to getting around the business and our customers to continue to innovate, drive standards and create delicious, tasty food.”

Compleat owns brands including Wall’s Pastry, Pork Farms, Wrights, Unearthed, Vadasz and Squeaky Bean, and is a major own-label supplier for pastry, party and deli foods.
