Crosta Mollica NPD

Crosta Mollica was seeing ‘phenomenal growth’ for its pizzas in the UK and Europe, it said

Corsta Mollica has introduced a slew of new pizza products and secured a nationwide listing for a new white ready-to-top pizza base.

Pizza Base Bianca is made using the brand’s signature base and topped with “a creamy mozzarella sauce” and cracked black pepper. It has launched in Sainsbury’s and Tesco stores nationwide (rsp: £3.25/263g).

The NPD tapped growing demand for white, or ‘bianca’, pizzas, Crosta Mollica said.

More restaurants were now offering “cream and cheese-based alternatives to traditional tomato bases”, the supplier said. This reflected “growing consumer demand for innovative, premium flavour experiences”, it added.

Alongside the new white base, Crosta Mollica has added a quartet of new pizzas, and a new Garlic & Rosemary Pinsa Bread, inspired by traditional Roman pinsa.

The pinsa (rsp: £3.95/243g) is made using an Italian sourdough starter and a blend of wheat and rice flours, hand-stretched and topped with fresh rosemary and garlic.

Each pack also included a garlic-flavoured extra virgin olive oil dosette “for an added and fresh flavour boost”, Crosta Mollica said.

The NPD, which has launched in Sainsbury’s and Tesco, was “perfect straight from the oven or as an accompaniment to an Italian feast of pasta, pizza, stews and salads”, it added.

Meanwhile, the four new pizza SKUs are: Primavera, Siciliana, Quattro Formaggi and Salami Napoli Pizzette.

Primavera (rsp: £5.75/537g) is a tomato-based pizza topped with taggiasca olives, balsamic infused red onions, mozzarella, grilled courgettes and peppers, artichokes and Crosta Mollica’s “signature” lemongrass and mascarpone sauce. It has launched as a chilled pizza in Sainsbury’s and frozen on Ocado.

Siciliana (rsp: £5.75/405g) is made with a tomato sauce base, topped with garlic taggiasca olives, Calabrian red onions, a dried caper crumb, Sicilian oregano and fresh spinach. It has launched exclusively in Tesco freezers.

Quattro Formaggi (rsp: £5.50/423g) features gorgonzola, mozzarella, parmigiano reggiano and a “smoky” provola on a tomato base. It has launched frozen on Ocado.

Salami Napoli Pizzette (rsp: £5.75/2x215g) is a two-pack of frozen pizzetta featuring pomodoro sauce, mozzarella, salami, buffalo mozzarella and smoked provola. It is also available on Ocado.

“The growth we are seeing across our pizza portfolio, both in the UK and across Europe, is absolutely phenomenal,” said David Milner, chairman at Crosta Mollica. “This inspires us to continue to explore different corners of Italy, discover new toppings and flavour combinations to bring to the UK, and innovate – always inspired by the vibrant and ever-evolving pizza culture in Italy.

“We are thrilled with how popular our ready-to-top pizza base is, and by developing the Pizza Base Bianca, we aim to give our customers even more choice and freedom to be creative at home – as long as there isn’t a pineapple in sight, of course!”

Crosta Mollica sales climbed 54.8% to £66.4m last year, set against a pizza category that was broadly flat in value year on year [NIQ 52 we 6 September 2025].
