Dhamecha Cash & Carry is building a sixth depot more than five years after launching its search for a new site.
The 100,000 sq ft depot in Hayes, west London, is expected to be completed by the end of the spring and will create 70 jobs.
"We are very excited about this new addition to the group," said CEO Pradip Dhamecha. "It has always been our intention to open a cash & carry in this area in order to better service the retailers in the south and the west of the capital.
"Some may question the logic of expanding during a recession but our investment demonstrates our commitment to the independent retail sector."
Dhamecha, which is The Today's Group's biggest member, earlier this month completed an extension of its Enfield depot, which it reopened with a raft of promotions. It has also refurbished the customer service areas of its Wembley and Barking depots.
