Dhamecha has unveiled plans to open its 14th depot as it looks to extend its geographic reach across the south west.

The new depot is set to open in Bristol later this year and looks to provide “enhanced support for independent retailers”.

It comes as the Big 30 wholesaler celebrates its 50th year in business. Dhamecha began trading in 1976 with a single depot in London, before expanding further across the capital and then to the Midlands in 2015.

More recently, the cash & carry wholesaler, which is also the largest member of buying group Unitas, extended its reach further north with the opening of its Liverpool depot in 2024.

“This milestone reflects not only the hard work of our team, but also the strength of our partnerships with suppliers and, most importantly, the continued loyalty of our customers,” said Dhamecha Group CEO Pradip Dhamecha.

“Bristol is a key location for our continued growth, and we are excited about the opportunities this new depot will create. It will reinforce our nationwide footprint while providing a strong platform to collaborate with suppliers on growth initiatives, drive innovation in range and pricing, and deliver even greater value to the independent retailers we are proud to serve.”

Unitas CEO John Kinney said: “Dhamecha has earned its position as a leading force in UK wholesale by delivering real value to independent retailers for 50 years.

“Its continued expansion is a powerful signal of confidence in the sector. At a time when the trading environment is challenging, it is encouraging to see businesses investing for future growth.”
