Independent retailer Dike & Son sold 92% of reduced products in the last week of September thanks to its partnership with food clearance app Gander.
The latest results mark its highest sell-through rate since joining Gander in February, up from around 73%, selling 1,200 of the 1,310 products it had reduced that week.
The retailer, which is supplied by Co-op Wholesale and located in Stalbridge, said the improvements were achieved through investing in new handheld terminals and printers for its in-store reductions process.
Its team has also been promoting the availability of reduced products through the supermarket’s Facebook page.
“Our team has worked hard to make reductions a consistent part of how we operate and we have also used Facebook to let customers know they can find great value through Gander,” said Dike & Son Superstore company director Adam Vincent.
“Seeing our sell-through rise from around 73% in February to 92% in our latest weekly figures is a fantastic result. It shows what our colleagues can achieve when the right technology is backed by good processes in store.”
Gander consultant Ian Bacon said: “Dike & Son’s results show the difference that a committed store team can make. They have improved the way reductions are managed and made sure local shoppers know what’s available.
“Selling more than nine in 10 reduced products in the latest week is an excellent achievement and a useful example for other independent retailers looking to get more value from their reductions.”
