Hamel will step into the role of MD on 15 March

Dole Packaged Foods has appointed Erik Hamel as Europe MD, replacing Isabelle Spindler-Jacobs.

Hamel is an fmcg industry veteran. He worked for Heineken for 25 years in finance, sales and general management roles across various European markets, before joining Dole as finance director in 2020.

Over the past five years he had been “a strong and reliable business partner, leading the entire finance team with a commitment towards excellence”, according to Dole.

Effective 15 March, Hamel will continue to drive the company’s transformation as MD, focusing on both short-term and long-term category growth, while promoting Dole’s sustainability work.

“I am very pleased to be given the opportunity to continue our journey in which we strive to enhance nutrition through the goodness of fruit together with our stakeholders,” said Hamel.

His predecessor Spindler-Jacobs, who joined Dole Europe in 2019, took the lead in relocating the business from Paris to Rotterdam during the Covid pandemic, had established “a fantastic office and team by focusing on diversity and valuing individuals”, the company said.

Under her leadership, Dole Europe had explored new markets and route to market expansions and delivered category growth in the UK.

After five-and-a-half years at the helm, however, it was “time for me to move on and explore new horizons”, Spindler-Jacobs said.
