Independent craft brand Double-Barrelled Brewery has secured a £200k expansion loan to support its next stage of growth.
Founded in 2018 by husband-and-wife team Luci Clayton-Jones and Mike Clayton-Jones, the business has grown from a small-scale brewing operation into an established craft brewery and taproom in Reading.
It produces a range of beers, from pale ales to lagers and limited-edition seasonal releases, and supplies customers across the UK through its taproom, online store, wholesale partners and major retailers, including Waitrose and Co-op.
The Thames Valley Berkshire expansion loan from the FSE Group will allow the company to invest in sales and marketing activity and new equipment, helping Double-Barrelled increase production capacity and create jobs as demand for its beers continues to grow.
“We have invested everything into building Double-Barrelled over the past eight years and are incredibly proud of how far the business has come,” Luci Clayton-Jones said.
“From brewing our first beers at home to supplying customers across the UK, we’ve always focused on creating great beer and building a community around the brand.”
Mike Clayton-Jones added: “This funding gives us the opportunity to invest in the people, equipment and marketing needed to take the next step. We see significant opportunities to grow our retail and wholesale presence, with this funding both unlocking new national listings and supporting existing ones, and we look forward to working with FSE as we continue this journey.”
Rob Hillary, investment manager at the FSE Group, said: “Double-Barrelled Brewery is a fantastic example of an ambitious founder-led business that has built a strong brand and loyal customer following over many years. Luci and Mike have created a business with real momentum, supported by national retail listings, a successful taproom and a clear strategy for future growth. We’re pleased to support the team as they continue to grow the business and create jobs in the region.”
