Independent drinks distributor Lacons has joined Unitas Wholesale as an on-trade member.
The brewer and wholesaler based in Lowestoft, East Suffolk, supplies more than 1,000 customer accounts across the east of England and into London.
Lacons, which was established in 1760, brews both cask and keg beers and delivers over 2,000 product lines. It has plans to grow to £30m turnover by 2027 and expand nationally.
“Following on from our recent move to our new distribution centre, which signalled the next stage of our continued growth plan, joining Unitas Wholesale is a perfect fit and provides us with more tools to continue our successful expansion journey,” said Lacons MD Mick Carver.
“This partnership will ensure that we continue to offer customers not only our own multi-award-winning range of beers but also provide them with more and more unique and exclusive brands at great value.”
Unitas Wholesale MD John Kinney added that Lacons’ dual capability as a brewer and wholesaler will bring “exciting new opportunities to the group”.
“With shared values and a strong alignment with our vision, their addition strengthens our proposition and future ambitions.”
It follows the appointment of Gurms Athwal as Unitas Wholesale’s new trading director last week.
He brings more than 25 years’ experience in the wholesale sector to the role and most recently served as trading director at Parfetts, a position he held for the past four years.
