Silverhand Silver Reign

Silver Reign is billed as ‘a fresh and lively sparkling wine’ with ‘delicate aromas of elderflower, white hedgerow flowers, pear and apricot’

English sparkling wine Silverhand Silver Reign has made its supermarket debut in Sainsbury’s.

Silver Reign Brut is exclusively available now in 440 stores nationwide (rsp: £17.50/75cl). Silver Reign Rosé will follow in October, launching in 83 Sainsbury’s stores as part of the retailer’s expanding English wine category.

Silver Reign Brut is produced using the Charmat method on Silverhand Estate in Luddesdown, Kent from estate grown 54% chardonnay, 41% pinot noir and 5% pinot meunier grapes.

It is billed as “a fresh and lively sparkling wine” with “delicate aromas of elderflower, white hedgerow flowers, pear and apricot”.

The listing is Silver Reign’s first entry into mainstream grocery, with the brand having previously been available only at its cellar door, via DTC, from independent retailers and in selected on-trade venues.

“Silver Reign makes premium sparkling wine from England more accessible to consumers, offering a local alternative and a natural trade-up from established categories such as prosecco and cava,” said Silverhand Estate.

The 900-acre Silverhand Estate is owned by English wine group MDCV UK, which operates vineyards across Kent and Sussex, while also distributing wines from its four estates in Provence, France.

MDCV is targeting becoming the largest producer of English wine by 2030, with a production capability exceeding five million bottles.
