RVP Foods is aiming to carve the frozen category a bigger share of the snack trend with the launch of Ross Pasta Fasta -­ three microwaveable frozen Italian snacks. The range comprises pasta twists in a bolognaise sauce, pasta quills in a carbonara sauce and pasta spirals in a cheese sauce. They can all be heated in the microwave in four minutes straight from the freezer. Business development director Sandy Sewell said: "Snacks are a huge opportunity in frozen. This is a £5bn ­ mostly ambient ­ market and frozen has just £20m of this." Pasta Fasta joins Oriental Express Snack Noodle Pots in RVP Foods' frozen snack range. This was launched in October 1998 at £1.39 for 300g, and was relaunched last year at 99p. Sewell said: "99p is obviously not a meal price and we can be sure the snack position is clearly delivered." {{P&P }}
