Alcohol-free spirits challenger Feragaia has been snapped up by independent luxury goods group Chanrossa as the Edinburgh-based investment firm builds its portfolio in the category.
Feragaia will join R&B Distillers, the spirits & drinks business of Chanrossa, alongside single malt and gin brand Isle of Raasay.
The sale of a majority stake represented a “significant step” in Feragaia’s mission to “elevate low & no drinking experiences”.
The investment will provide the Fife-based brand with resources and expertise to scale production and expand internationally.
Founded in 2019 by Jamie Wild and Bill Garnock, formerly of Pernod Ricard and Edrington Americas respectively, Feragaia is a small-batch alcohol-free spirit that is distilled using traditional Scottish techniques combined with modern technology.
The B Corp became Scotland’s first working 0.0% abv distillery in 2022 and has since built national distribution in the premium on-trade and in retail.
“According to IWSR, 82% of people who drink alcohol-free spirits also enjoy alcoholic drinks, yet there’s still a perception that non-alcoholic options are only for non-drinkers,” said Garnock.
“Feragaia was created to challenge that divide and prove that choosing not to drink alcohol doesn’t mean compromising on flavour or experience. Partnering with Chanrossa allows us to take that message further, scale sustainably, and share ‘Scotland’s Free Spirit’ with a global audience.”
R&B Distillers MD William Dobbie added: “Our brands are all about creating a more progressive and inclusive drinking experience across categories, while delivering supreme quality on every occasion. By adding Feragaia, whose values align perfectly with ours, we enhance our portfolio of like-minded brands and accelerate our bold, global growth plans.
“We’re excited to work with Jamie and Bill to grow Feragaia’s footprint in the UK and beyond and strengthen Scotland’s reputation for innovation in spirits – both alcoholic and alcohol-free.”
While R&B Distillers will hold the controlling stake in the business, Feragaia’s co-founders remain as “fully involved shareholders”, working alongside the new owner.
Feragaia will continue to be distributed in the UK by Cask Liquid Marketing until 31 January 2026.
Feragaia has been backed by Anders Povlsen, the Danish billionaire and conservationist, since 2021 following a £1.5m investment.
