Kinder Bueno Dark contains wafer and creamy hazelnut filling, coated in dark chocolate

Ferrero UK has brought back Kinder Bueno Dark after a seven-year hiatus.

The treat, which contains Kinder Bueno’s signature crispy wafer and creamy hazelnut filling, coated in dark chocolate, first launched as a limited-edition in the UK in 2015.

It was brought back permanently in 2016 before being axed by Ferrero in 2019. While the full-sized bar was discontinued, smaller versions of Kinder Bueno Dark remained available in Mini Mix packs.

Seven years on, full-sized Kinder Bueno Dark bars have returned to Tesco and Morrisons shelves, tipped by Ferrero to attract shoppers “seeking a more intense and premium chocolate option”.

“Dark chocolate continues to resonate with young adult shoppers, particularly those seeking a more premium taste within confectionery,” said Ferrero marketing director Andrea Longobardi.

“Kinder Bueno Dark expands and strengthens the existing range, giving retailers a genuine opportunity to boost sales and increase basket spend by introducing something new from a well-loved and trusted brand.”

Ferrero isn’t the only chocolate manufacturer hoping to tempt shoppers with new dark chocolate treats.

Cadbury overhauled its Bournville dark chocolate brand in July, unveiling a “modernised” redesign and Caramel and Chopped Hazelnut variants.

The relaunch was backed by Bournville’s first major marketing campaign since 1982, designed “to make dark chocolate more accessible”.
