Fish sector calls for ‘care’ over mackerel fishery as stock recovers

ICES advised that the Total Allowable Catch of north-east Atlantic mackerel for 2027 should be 352,938 tonnes – a 102% increase on the 2026 advice
Fishing groups have welcomed an increase in the size of the north-east Atlantic mackerel stock following the recent scientific assessment by the International Council for the Exploration of the Seas.
