First Milk’s Golden Hooves has launched its first-ever butter.
The regenerative dairy brand’s new Salted Butter (rsp: £2.95/200g) has been stocked in Waitrose, Booths, Ocado, and other independent retailers across the UK.
The butter is described as being “rich, creamy and fresh, with a luxurious mouthfeel and sweetness from regeneratively farmed milk”.
Golden Hooves Salted Butter benefitted from design, production and retail phases of the Big Food Redesign Challenge, created by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in partnership with the Sustainable Food Trust.
The scheme is designed to shake up the food industry and work towards regenerative food systems. As part of this it looked at supply chains including the regenerative programmes being implemented on First Milk farms.
The brand said the launch was “punchy proof that shoppers don’t need to choose between quality and conscience on their everyday items”.
It comes as First Milk has unveiled its impact report for 2024/25 which showed a 6% increase in land year on year within the dairy co-op’s regenerative programme, up to 89,977 hectares. This represented a potential 78% increase in carbon locked away in the soil, the equivalent to 203,000 tonnes CO2e – the equivalent of planting nine million trees.
