Gordon Ramsay has partnered with Benchmark Drinks to launch a trio of Italian wines into Tesco.
One red, one white and one rosé SKU have rolled into Tesco under the Gordon Ramsay Italian Collection brand label (rsp: £10/750ml).
They are also available to buy online via the Wine Delivered website.
Intenso Rosso 2020 is billed as a “vibrant” red with “aromas of fresh redcurrant, blackberry and a touch of flint”. Vibrante Bianco 2020, meanwhile, is claimed to be a “vibrant and juicy” white with “aromas of fresh green apple and white peach”.
The rosé – Elegante Rosato 2020 – had “a fragrant floral palate” with “fresh red cherry aromas”, said the brand.
The wines – which were “years in development and driven by memorable times spent in Italy” – were developed alongside winemaker Alberto Antonini.
The partnership between Ramsay and Antonini had resulted in a “pioneering decision” to blend fruit from two different regions, Tuscany and Abruzzo, which was “key in achieving the desired styles and flavours”, it added.
Ramsay said: “Italy and Italian wines have a special place in my heart. Tana and I have spent some incredibly happy times in this amazing country and many of those moments were made even better by a beautiful glass of wine.”
“When it came to launching my own wine range, it was very important to set the same standards and quality as I expect in my restaurants,” he added.
This is the latest in a string of big-name brand launches from Benchmark Drinks.
Last month, it partnered with Gary Barlow to launch a duo of organic wines into Morrisons.
In March 2020, it partnered with popstar Kylie Minogue to launch her own wine brand.
In 2018, it debuted a range of Australain wines with ex-cricketer Ian Botham and secured the UK and Ireland rights to Graham Norton’s range of wines.
