The chief strategy officer of meal kit brand Gousto is departing the company after close to a decade.
Sally Matthews joined Gousto in 2016 as chief financial officer, in 2020 becoming chief product and customer officer. In 2024 she became chief strategy officer, “focused on advising the business on long-term growth opportunities”, including Gousto’s entry into the Republic of Ireland.
Gousto said “given the scope and structure” of Matthews’ most recent role at the company – which she worked for two days a week – it was not recruiting a direct replacement.
“Sally’s strategic responsibilities are being effectively covered by the existing leadership team, ensuring continuity and momentum across the business,” the company added.
Matthews – who previously held finance roles at Tesco and Unilever – said she had consumed nearly 17,000 different Gousto recipes during her tenure at the company.
“You only get one life and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to spend so much of mine at Gousto,” Matthews wrote in a LinkedIn post. “The people, culture and product really do make Gousto a very special place to work and it will always hold a place in my heart.”
Timo Boldt, Gousto CEO and founder, told The Grocer it had been “a privilege and a joy to work with Sally over the last 10 years”.
“We’re continuing our strong relationship through fortnightly check-in calls and we all wish her every happiness and success in her new role,” Boldt added.
Matthews said she would be moving on to a new CFO role shortly.
