Graham’s the Family Dairy has launched premium, unhomogenised Silver Top milk.
The brand said the nostalgic launch offered “milk in a more authentic form, with the cream naturally rising to the top”.
While inspired by the original milk bottles the business delivered by horse and cart 80 years ago, the decision to launch the product was fuelled by desire from younger consumers for transparency, protein and natural ingredients, the business added.
As it is unhomogenised, the manufacturing process preserved the “rich, creamy texture” and natural protein, Graham’s said.
“Bringing Silver Top milk to UK shelves is a milestone for our family business, returning to the same product our grandfather first delivered in Bridge of Allan over 80 years ago,” said Graham’s Family Dairy MD Robert Graham. “This launch is a direct tribute to our heritage as a dairy farming family and our commitment to authentic provenance.”
He continued: “Because our Silver Top is unhomogenised, the cream rises naturally to the top, an instantly recognisable feature that older generations remember and younger shoppers are discovering for the first time.”
The launch follows the success of Gold Top Jersey Milk, which is also unhomogenised but made of Jersey milk, and experienced a 25% increase in sales last year. This, the MD said, showed “there is a growing demand for premium, traditional dairy that prioritises authenticity over modern processing”.
“We have seen a significant shift in the market – consumers are moving away from heavily manufactured goods in favour of simpler, minimally processed ingredients,” Graham added.
Graham’s Silver Top will be available in 70 Tesco locations across Scotland from 18 May.
