High street bakers Greggs is set to open itsfirst forecourt outlet in the UK at the end of the month.
The shop, at the Fairfield filling station near Edinburgh, is part of the bakery chain’s strategy to develop new retail formats in areas off the traditional high street.
Greggs group property director John Rook said it was too early to say whether it would open more forecourt shops but insisted Greggs was keen to seek new areas for development. “Non-standard locations such as office areas, industrial estates, transport hubs and roadside are all being considered,” he added.
