Strawberry Lemon, Orange, Raspberry Rose, Lemon Lime and Wild Berry cans will hit Tesco and Pret a Manger on 5 March

US prebiotic soda brand Poppi is to make its UK debut next month.

Strawberry Lemon, Orange, Raspberry Rose, Lemon Lime and Wild Berry cans (rsp: £2.59/330ml) will hit Tesco and Pret a Manger on 5 March.

The sodas – which will be produced and distributed by Carlsberg Britvic – are low in sugar and calories, made with real fruit juice and contain added prebiotics.

They met “demand for drinks that combine enjoyment with added benefit”, said PepsiCo.

“Shoppers are seeking soft drinks that offer great flavour and a modern brand story – and Poppi delivers on both,” said Munnawar Chishty, Carlsberg Britvic CMO. “With its vibrant packaging, bold flavour lineup and proven ability to attract consumers, Poppi gives retailers a high-impact proposition that stands out immediately in-store.”

PepsiCo splurged $1.95bn to acquire Poppi in 2025 as part of a bid to diversify away from mainstream soda towards products with stronger health credentials.

The brand was founded in 2018 by husband-and-wife duo Stephen and Allison Ellsworth in Texas under the name Mother Beverage. The business rebranded after an appearance on Shark Tank – the US equivalent of Dragons’ Den – that same year.

The retail sales value of functional health drinks surged by 26.4% to £143.5m last year [Circana 52 w/e 25 January 2025], driven by the continued growth of healthier soft drinks brands such as Trip, Goodrays and Hip Pop.
