Hackney Gelato has added a duo of sorbetto lollies.
Sicilian Lemon & Strawberry with a Hint of Mint and Alphonso Mango & Coconut are HFSS-compliant and made using 100% natural ingredients.
Exclusive to Waitrose, they were better than “the best ice lolly you’ve ever had”, claimed Hackney Gelato.
It has also this month added Blood Orange, Mascarpone & Pistachio gelato. Listed in Ocado and Gopuff, the NPD is “zesty, creamy and slightly nutty”.
“Blood orange and pistachio are two ingredients currently trending in the dessert and food space, and we’ve paired them with mascarpone to add a rich Italian twist,” said Hackney Gelato brand manager Aoife Doran.
Last March, Hackney Gelato launched a Banana, Caramel & Pecan tub into grocery, made with 30% real banana purée, fresh milk and caramelised pecans.
The innovation was crowned Champion in the ‘frozen – sweet’ category of The Grocer’s New Product & Packaging Awards 2025. Hackney Gelato also added Amarena Cherry Cheesecake last year, which hit Tesco in October.
The brand’s value sales rocketed 30.8% to £3.2m on volumes up 32.1% in the year to 6 September 2025, helped by “strong distribution gains”, according to the brand [NIQ].
Rival brand Little Moons has also been playing up premium Italian cues in its recent innovation efforts. Refreshos Lemon & Elderflower (rsp: £5/6x30g), exclusive to Tesco, was “inspired by the viral trend of Amalficore”, it said.
