Heart of England Co-op has rolled out new software that improves the freshness and availability of food baked in stores.
The technology, called Cybake ISB, focuses on the society’s in-store bakery and hot food counters, with the aim to cut waste and increase sales.
Using forecasting and real-time sales data, it shows staff what items to bake and when to make them, supported with preparation instructions on tablet devices.
Heart of England Co-op runs 38 food stores in the West Midlands, Warwickshire, South Leicestershire and Northamptonshire
“Our hot food-to-go sales increased by 20% within weeks of deploying Cybake ISB,” said Heart of England Co-op COO Paul Strong.
“A big factor in this rise was compliance and buy-in from store colleagues, ensuring they made what was needed at the right times.”
Cybake CEO Ali Lyons added: “With the help of the team at Heart of England Co-op, this was a fast implementation.
“I am happy to see it’s already producing impressive results. Heart of England Co-operative has a clear food-to-go strategy, and using Cybake ISB will underpin this exciting plan perfectly.”
Other retailers using Cybake include Marks & Spencer, Cooplands Bakery, Wenzel’s Bakery, and forecourt operator Park Garage Group.
