Henderson Technology has introduced new functionality to its electronic point-of-sale system to enable forecourt retailers to automatically report fuel price changes to the government’s Fuel Finder scheme.
It aims to help them comply with transparency regulations that require retailers to report fuel price changes within 30 minutes, as well as reduce administrative burden.
Once configured, EdgePoS connects with the government Fuel Finder database and automatically sends price changes detected at the pumps.
The platform checks for price updates regularly and only sends data when a price change occurs, helping retailers meet reporting obligations without the need for manual submissions.
Henderson Technology is providing the feature free of charge to existing EdgePoS retailers.
“Fuel price transparency is becoming an increasingly important focus across the industry and forecourt retailers need technology that makes compliance straightforward,” said Henderson Technology retail technology operations director Darren Nickels.
“By integrating automated Fuel Finder reporting directly into EdgePoS, we are helping forecourt operators remove the complexity from the process while ensuring price changes are reported quickly and accurately.
“We also made the decision to provide this functionality free of charge to our EdgePoS retailers. It is important to us that forecourt retailers can meet regulatory requirements without additional costs and this is another example of how we continue to enhance the platform to support their businesses.”
It is understood around 90% of retailers are now registered to Fuel Finder, which officially launched last month. Those who fail to submit accurate data could be subject to fines.
The CMA said earlier this year, however, that until May 2026 its focus will be on supporting businesses to comply with the new regime, rather than enforcement action. Once established, enforcement will focus on conduct that could undermine Fuel Finder or harm competition.
