The affected product is seven months-plus 190g Vegetable Lasagne jar

Hipp Organic has issued a recall of its 190g Vegetable Lasagne jars for infants aged seven months and over after celeriac was not correctly labelled as an allergen, posing a risk to babies with celeriac allergies.

Although celeriac appeared in the ingredients list, it was not emphasised in bold as required under allergen labelling rules, according to a bulletin issued by the Food Standards Agency.

The affected product carries a use by date of 31 January 2027 and batch code B49311. The FSA said the product “contains celeriac, making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to celery”.

The labelling error occurred during the most recent artwork print refresh, according to a notice on Hipp’s website.

Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores selling the affected product, explaining to shoppers why the product is being recalled and what to do if they have bought it.

Shoppers should not eat the product and should instead contact Hipp Organic’s customer services team on 0800 298 4477 or at hello@hipp.co.uk for reimbursement or further information, the FSA advised.

It follows a series of recent infant formula recalls by Nestlé and Danone linked to the presence of cereulide, a toxin known to cause vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach cramps.
