Holland & Barrett products will now be stocked by Well Pharmacy after the launch of a new concession partnership between the pair.
The tie-up launched on 1 December, at the Bestway-owned pharmacy’s newly refurbished Birchwood Store in Warrington.
Spread across six bays, the store stocks 300 of H&B’s own label vitamins, supplements, specialist foods and sports nutrition products – the “most comprehensive range” offered in a pharmacy setting, H&B said.
It also sees the launch of an innovative digital ‘Lift & Learn’ product discovery feature. Designed to be triggered when a customer lifts a product from shelves, digital screens nearby switch to display information about the health benefits of the selected item.
Holland & Barrett’s learning and development team will also provide “enhanced” health and wellness training to Well Pharmacy’s retail colleagues.
Well will look to roll the concessions out to more stores in the future.
“At Well Pharmacy, we see every day how much people value accessible, local healthcare,” said Andrew Caplan, Well Pharmacy chief retail officer. ”Partnering with Holland & Barrett strengthens what we can offer our communities by combining essential pharmacy services with evidence-based wellness support.”
“This new format store reflects the future of community health on the high street, giving people the clinical care they need and the wellbeing advice they want in one convenient location. We are excited to bring this to Birchwood and to build on this partnership in the months ahead.”
Holland & Barrett has significantly stepped up its concessions’ rollout over the past year as way of reaching new customers. In September, it launched three the first of new concessions into Morrisons supermarkets.
It followed the significant rollout of health and wellness bays into 125 Co-op stores in August, as well as the launch of a digital marketplace in January which made 300 of its products available via Ocado.
The retailer has also invested more than £100m into revamping and expanding its store estate under owner LetterOne’s turnaround strategy.
“We are excited to bring together two trusted health brands to create a new kind of customer experience – one that blends clinical expertise with holistic wellness,” said Holland & Barrett chief commercial officer Guy Farmer.
“This partnership is an important milestone in our journey to make health and wellness accessible to everyone and to support them on their wellness journey. We’re proud to work with Well Pharmacy to deliver something truly innovative for customers.”
