This new venture, on the former site of the Belsize Pub, is the fifth restaurant for London restaurateur Will Ricker. His portfolio already includes E&O in Notting Hill, Eight Over Eight in Chelsea and Great Eastern Dining Rooms and Cicada, both in east London.
The theme of the restaurant is glamorous pan-Asian - pure Ricker territory - but with new dishes sourced from a trip to south east Asia and a new concept, XO to Go, selling signature dishes and branded goodies to take away.
The menu has many dishes common among Asian restaurants, such as chilli-salted squid and black cod with sweet miso, but includes some interesting combinations such as rock shrimp tempura, Alaskan king crab with white pepper and Peking duck and foie gras dumplings. Children can have a special £5 menu available until 6pm daily.
As is expected with restaurants of this type, the décor is modern and stark in design. The main room accommodates 92 covers and there's a private dining room and a cocktail bar for up to 22 guests. Expect to spend about £35 for lunch and £45 for dinner. The wine list ranges from £13 to £160.
